The on board dsp settings can really make a difference with the preset eq's. Well worth the money . I ran them both at 50% and they sounded great. Been DJing and involved in live msuic and sound for over 15 years. They also gave a really long power cable for the speakers which is nice. EV does not disappoint. Some reviews say that the 15" is even more efficient with it's power than its' 12" counterpart. I did that and presto. I just purchase the EV ZLX-15P Powered speakers and I have to say these speakers are awesome I highly recommend. So i dont recommend running them like that unless you have to. After some research e-mail to techs an to Zzounds I decided to purchase these ZLX-15P Powered Speakers. The QSC didn't have as much punch on the low end (running subs really makes this unimportant) but was a bit clearer. I received this speaker last week so I don't have any long term reviews of it as of yet, what I will say is that the speaker sounds good, I wouldn't say 1000w of good or even close to that, we have a set of Peavey SP-5 single 15 speakers powered by an older behringer mixer amp, I disconnected 1 side and ran the EV from the Right side XLR out of the mixer and played so music from my phone, I turned the EV input for that channel to about 1/2 and main was at 0db, mixer at about -5db, speaker was loud, clear and good bass response, it was definitely colored a lot more than the SP-5, the bass had more top end punch to it which isn't a bad thing unless you want to make those choices for yourself, but considering the SP-5 is about 10+ old...eh.
